Acute nerve Root Compression:
Acute nerve root compression results from irritation of nerves in the neck. This can be due to inflamed discs from prolonged abnormal or poor posture, or in the elderly where arthritis causes narrowing of the space in which the nerved exits the spinal column.

Symptoms are commonly felt in the arm and unlikely to be felt in the neck. Symptoms include pain, pins and needles loss of sensation and sometimes loss of strength.
