Injury Treatment’s Optimise Physiotherapy services are aimed at increasing medical capacity and job readiness to assist in sustainable RTW outcomes for both same and different employer clients. The length and type of treatment proposed is tailored to the need of the client and referrer to provide an optimal RTW outcome for all parties with the primary goal of reducing weekly payments and the achievement of final RTW outcomes. Optimise physiotherapy provides treatment programs agreed with the worker and agent which are not of a standardised length (i.e. 6, 12 week programs). This provides a flexible solution to achieving upgrades in functional capacity aimed at increasing independence in exercise and upgrades in medical certification where we are often able to achieve successful return to work outcomes on less that two treatment plans. Fees are charged at NSW Workcover rates and the length of the program, reporting needs etc. are determined at referral and following the initial assessment.
Indicators for referral:
Clients with physical injuries who have; received more than 8 weeks of “hands-on” / passive; physiotherapy, osteopathy or chiropractic treatment and;
- Have not returned to their pre-injury role or a final prognosis for their RTW goal has not been established
- Have reached a plateau in their functional improvement
- Functional improvements are not being reflected on the medical certificate
- Are unable to self-manage their injury and are reliant on passive treatment
- Where the medical certificate demonstrates reduced hours which is limiting a job seeker from securing a new role
In addition the following differentiates Injury Treatment’s Optimise program from other available programs:
- All programs are managed by Physiotherapist only ensuring both functional improvement and clinical recovery are achieved;
- All Physiotherapists are WorkCover NSW accredited;
- Treatment and conditioning reflect the requirements of the client’s occupation, as Injury Treatment is an accredited rehabilitation provider and therefore able to conduct workplace assessments; A workplace assessment can be completed by the physiotherapist (or another Injury Treatment consultant if a conflict is perceived), following approval;
- Reports will only be provided in addition to standard Physiotherapy Management Plans where additional reports are requested;
- Pricing reflects the gazetted physiotherapy rates (PTA coding) as outlined in the WorkCover NSW Worker’s Compensation (Physiotherapy Fees) Order;
- The number of treatment sessions is tailored to the worker’s assessed functional capacity and rehabilitation required to meet the requirements of their role;
- GP case conferencing occurs where the client’s assessed functional capacity is not consistent with certification provided on the WorkCover medical certificate and approval is obtained.
- Optimise programs can therefore be completed in lieu, or in conjunction with, occupational rehabilitation depending on the employer’s return to work planning capability
