The Injury Treatment Medical Advisory Board:

The Medical Advisory Board was developed in response to our strong belief that in many complex or long term claims, it is of crucial importance to overcome or prevent medical barriers to functional restoration and return to work in order to and achieve a timely and cost effective outcome. This may include:

• Ensure accurate diagnosis is made, early, and clear information as to compensable and non-compensable injury can be determined
• In achieving the above, recommendations for appropriate investigations and referrals can be made with appropriate follow up
• Ensuring recommendations for appropriate and finite treatment are provided
• Identification of psycho-social yellow flags and provision of suitable interventions to overcome or prevent psychological illness/overlay
• Providing actionable and concise ongoing recommendations for the claimant’s GP through superior medical guidance

The Medical Advisory Board utilises a multi-disciplinary team to complete a comprehensive medical assessment of the claimant. In doing so, medical and psycho-social considerations are assessed in identifying an appropriate medical management strategy for the Claimant. The Medical Advisory Board can be offered at any time with the life of a claim where there is significant medical or psycho-social complexity or barriers, a referral can be made.
