Specialist Injury Management Services

Injury Treatment provides sharp, cost effective and outcome-focused return to work case management services. This is demonstrated in our 100% RTW Rate and low cost interventions. Injury Treatment believes that effective RTW case management can only be achieved when the Consultant can consistently demonstrate real life experience, confidence, the ability to negotiate under pressure, and a “can do” attitude, whilst naturally keeping their eye on the ball. In doing so, our Consultants will carefully extract appropriate information from all stakeholders (eg. Worker, employer, doctor, treating parties, insurer) regarding the history of the injury and its current impact on all parties. This enables a thorough RTW Plan to be developed where all parties are operating from the ‘same page’.

Injury Treatment takes a risk-based approach to the management of all cases. This drives an underlying emphasis on:

  • Case Triage
  • Immediate and documented action planning, and
  • A rehabilitation process that negotiates certainty.

Some key points relevant to our approach are summarised below.
To ensure a robust process, minimising your business risk, we support our rehabilitation plans with the level of specialist medical advice necessary in each and every case. Where this can be provided at lower cost by a GP we do this, however we do not threaten outcomes by being hesitant to involve specialists where risk is apparent.
We ensure that the treatment provider the worker identifies with most strongly with is involved as a central stakeholder in the case management process. Our role is to facilitate them in driving clinical return to work outcomes. Both this is a key area of risk to be managed throughout a case and our communication and plan sign-off processes ensure this.

A current and correct diagnosis is paramount, and in a surprising number of cases is not available. Often the original diagnosis is not the current diagnosis. In many cases our competitors will continue with work to early and limiting assessments about a person’ clinical state. Often when a referral is made, the acute phase of a case will be over and an extended time without active rehabilitation is not necessary and possible detrimental. Diagnosis can change from onset to referral (as well as during the RTW Monitoring phase) and we clarify this as a priority.

In liaising with employers we focus on translating the language from ‘medical-speak’ to ‘work-speak’. We bridge these two worlds and negotiate between the two, all with a focus on job retention and productivity maximisation.

We promote constant and early review points to ensure the success of the work rehabilitation process. We undertake case by case supervision and coaching with our consultants to ensure the level of monitoring and management necessary to a claim is being conducted. This cannot be achieved by standard review points alone.
